Nesting Materials for Birds

It can be difficult for birds to find adequate nest building materials in areas with lots of well manicured suburban yards.  You can help birds build nests by providing some of their favorite nest building materials.

Here's a list of favorite bird nesting materials.   You can present these materials to the birds by draping them over tree limbs, piling them on an old stump, or hanging them in mess bags near your bird feeders.

Note: Never offer sewing thread or fishing line as nesting material.  The birds can get tangled in these materials.   Also, do not offer lint from your clothes dryer as nesting material - it is soft and fluffy when it comes out of your drier, but does not make good nesting material when it gets wet.
