Colorado State BirdLark Bunting

 

Colorado is home to approximately 400 bird species.  Interesting species found in this state include the Mountain Bluebird, Western Tanager, Sandhill Crane, Hooded Merganser, Bald Eagle, and Peregrine Falcon.

Colorado birding hot spots include Waterton Canyon in the Denver Metropolitan area, Monte Vista National Wildlife Refuge in South Central Colorado, Black Canyon on the Gunnison National Park in Southwest Colorado, and Browns Park National Wildlife Refuge in Northwest Colorado.
