Birds of Arkansas

Arkansas State Bird: Mockingbird

The big Arkansas birding story is the spotting of the Ivory Billed Woodpecker in the Big Woods of eastern Arkansas.  Approximately 400 species of birds have been spotted in Arkansas.  Birders have been spotting Bald Eagles and Red-cockaded Woodpeckers in Arkansas for years.  The state offers many spots that are favorable to birding.

The Audubon Society of Arkansas website offers an Arkansas bird checklist in Adobe format.
