Alaska's pristine wilderness offers
excellent opportunities for viewing birds and other
wildlife. Alaska is home to a wide variety of
birds - according to the Alaska Department of Fisheries
and Game website, 471 species have been identified to
date.
The Alaska Department of Fisheries and Game sponsors the
"Wings
over Alaska" program, which encourages recreational
bird watching. The program offers four levels of
certification based on the number of birds identified.
